Wednesday, June 17, 1936

South wind and threatens rain all day
Sowed lettuce and beet seed in garden and hoed the peas & corn
Aunty got a letter from Clara
Iliff & Mildred came this eve and got two bushels of wheat.
Mother a little better today than yesterday but told me she could get along without me if I wanted to go-
I need not wait for Clara to come
Aunty rec'd letter & coat from Clara

  1. It sounds like such emotional turmoil, living with 'Mother'.

    1. It does indeed. A friend of mine who is a nurse & a PhD told me that she loves this diary as an historical record of how people coped & dealt with dementia patients in the days before adult care facilities & such.

Thanks for visiting this flashback to 1936. I'm sure Irene would be pleased! We'd love to hear from you.
