plesant all day-
Made tapioca custard for dinner and 3 pt cans of beet and cabbage rellish-
Harry done the chores and fixed the weights on the coal box etc. etc and left us for Half Acre 3 P.M.
I rec'd new roll of films from the Agfa Ansco Corporation* Binghamton
Wrote leter to Iliff this eve-
Mother good today with no bad results from her fall-

plesant all day, warm
The hay pressers worked all day and took tractor home at night-
Charles' wife and Junior called and Elnora Evans and Dorothy Delano also-
I done part of the ironing and mended this afternoon-
It has been a very warm day
Mother did not like the ironing and wanted the coal^ fires all out and no wood-


^"coal" was added in after Irene wrote "fires" because it appears above like it was added for clarification due to having wood fires also.

Tuesday, April 28, 1936

cloudy but plesant untill evening begins to rain
I made oat flake cookies and ginger bread and stewed prunes
Clara finished cleaning front room-
Harry rebuilt the coal box and ordered 500# coal*-
Aunty began doing chores with Harry's help-
Mother has been just fine all day-



*For the younger generation: No, Irene did not mess up the hashtag. This means Harry ordered 500 pounds of coal.

Saturday, February 22, 1936

Cold and plesant
Still zero weather trees covered with frost this morning like fairy land
Made a cherry pie and jelly tarts and a layer cake*
Done all the chores- and regular Saturday work-
Mother has been fine all day-
500 lbs of coal delivered
No mail today^-

Jam Tarts

Ingredients

• 3/4 c butter
• 1/8 c caster (superfine) sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/5 c jam
• 7/8 c plain flour
• 1 pinch salt

Method

1. To make pastry, sift flour, salt and sugar into a bowl, rub to crumbs, stir in egg and make a ball - chill for half an hour.
2. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F and grease tartlet tins. Roll our pastry and stamp out circles, press into the tins and spoon a heaped tsp of jam into each.
3. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

^So the coal truck can deliver, but that mail carrier didn't make it out. Interesting.

Cold but plesant
10 [degrees] below zero this eve-
paths blowed full-
shovelled them all out. time 2 hours to do it-
Done all the chores-
I went over to the Brick house to get Chas. to shovell out drive way so coal truck* can deliver coal-
Mother has been rather difficult today-
Iliff called this eve-
