Tuesday, February 11, 1936

Cold but plesant
Done chores and washed out table linen and towells and ironed them-
got corn from corn house-
Fringed* on the linen lunch cloth and overcasted the seam.
Cleaned mothers head today-
Mother has been fine today-
Iliff called this evening-


Fringed napkin like Irene and Mother were working on*

  1. Oooo- I used to fringe napkins like this with my grandmother. My Grandpa's sister used to do this as well and had some that my mum had embroidered for her when she was a little girl. I still use the technique in crafting now. Still addicted. Thanks for posting! Hugs from Shroo:)x

    1. Cool! I didn't realize what Irene was talking about until I Googled it & found this tutorial & some images. That was when light dawned & I realized I had seen this done before. LOL

  3. Tisha, what illness does Irene's Mom suffer from? When she say's cleaned, does she mean washed her hair?

    1. I'm not sure in this case. If Irene "washed" Mother's hair she generally uses some form of that verb. It's possible she was checking for lice, or something, or just washing her hair.

      We aren't sure what was wrong with Mother, it could have been dementia.

    1. It's just a separate outbuilding where the corn feed for the chickens was stored. They had a separate one for grain too.
